Sustainable Development and Energy PolicyIt is nearly two decades now since the concept of “Sustainable Development” was first brought to the fore by the Bruntland Commission Report of 1987. Meaningfully entitled "Our Common Future”, it postulated it as being "...development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".
Renewable EnergyTraditional energy resources (coal, gas and oil) are finite. The debate has been raging for some time now as to what degree and for how much longer economies will be able to rely on these to generate the bulk of the power required to sustain their growth.
Wind PowerModern wind turbines are mostly three-blade rotors positioned upwind and mounted on a tower, in turn supported by tall tubular foundations. They are capable of harnessing the power of the wind and transforming it into electricity.
